A Cup of Tea

I was sitting in a local coffee house and decided to try one of Jen's tricks - placing my camera on the arm of the chair, generally aiming and click - see what happens. I was really surprised to get this!

It worked out quite well, Laurie - a perfect POV to get a shot of these two over your tea. Well done!

Great candid shot! This worked out quite well.
Next trick: hip shot. Since your G12 is compact, it should be easy. Have your camera on set at P, no flash, ISO at 400 so that the shutter speed is fast and walk around taking photos without bringing the camera to eye level. Take a lot of shots as some might not be usable.
Have fun!

@Don Levesque: Oh thank you, Don :-) I have not played with the "P" yet, as I didn't really understand that setting. I've been following Jen's lead and using Aperture Priority. I'm going shooting with Jen this next weekend and will try that - can't wait! I just bought a used Canon 40D! A "real" camera and will be trying that out then too. Thanks so much for your suggestions, Don :=)
